New Landscape Makes a Yard Feel New Again

A Guide to Different Pool Shapes

Are you considering having a pool installed in your backyard? Choosing the right pool shape is one of the most important decisions you'll need to make. The shape of your pool can greatly impact the aesthetics of your outdoor space and determine the overall feel of your backyard oasis. In this guide, we'll explore the various pool shapes available and help you decide which one is best for your needs.

Rectangular Pools

Rectangular pools are a classic choice that never goes out of style. They are perfect for those who enjoy lap swimming or want a more formal and symmetrical look in their backyard. Rectangular pools are also great for creating a sleek and modern aesthetic, making them a popular choice for contemporary homes.

Kidney-Shaped Pools

Kidney-shaped pools are a more organic and free-form option that can add a touch of whimsy to your backyard. These pools are known for their curved edges and unique shape, which can create a more natural and relaxed atmosphere. Kidney-shaped pools are great for those who want a more playful and casual design for their outdoor space.

L-Shaped Pools

L-shaped pools are a versatile choice that can accommodate a variety of backyard layouts. They are ideal for maximizing available space and can be customized to fit a corner or wrap around a patio area. L-shaped pools are great for creating different zones within your pool area, such as a shallow lounging area and a deeper swimming section.

Freeform Pools

Freeform pools are designed to mimic the shape of a natural water body, such as a lake or lagoon. These pools have irregular shapes with flowing curves and organic lines, making them perfect for creating a tropical paradise in your backyard. Freeform pools are great for adding a sense of relaxation and tranquility to your outdoor space.

Geometric Pools

Geometric pools are a modern and sophisticated choice with clean lines and sharp angles. These pools are perfect for adding a contemporary touch to your backyard and creating a more polished and structured look. Geometric pools are great for those who prefer a minimalist design with a focus on symmetry and precision.

When choosing the shape of your pool, consider the overall style of your home, the size of your backyard, and how you plan to use the pool. Whether you prefer a classic rectangular pool, a playful kidney-shaped pool, or a modern geometric pool, there is a shape that will suit your needs and enhance the beauty of your outdoor space.

About Me

New Landscape Makes a Yard Feel New Again

Hi. My name is Martha. My husband Leo and I are empty nesters. The last of our three kids moved out of the home about eight years ago. Since that time, we have talked a great deal about retirement and what we wanted to do with our house. The house is slightly too large for just the two of us, but we already have two grandchildren and from the way our kids talk, we are in for plenty more. We have decided to stay in our home since it has plenty of room for our family to come and stay with us from time to time. The one thing we really wanted to change is the backyard. Leo retired last year, and I’ll be retiring in about six months. We are already talking with the landscape contractor, and I’m excited to share some of our plans with you!
