New Landscape Makes a Yard Feel New Again

What To Know About Landscape Design

A well-designed landscape can increase your property's value and make spending time outside more enjoyable. However, designing a landscape can be more challenging than you may expect. You'll want to create a landscape that meets your needs while also being affordable. Whether you are making a few changes to your current landscaping or starting with a clean slate, coming up with a suitable landscape design is vital. Here's what you should know about landscape design.

Needs Versus Wants

The first thing you'll want to do before getting to work on your property's landscaping is to determine what you need versus what you want. For example, if you have kids, you may want more open space in your landscape for them to play in. If you garden, you'll want to have room for that in your landscaping design. Also, your wants are important when it comes to landscaping. Making a list of your needs and wants will make it easier to develop a landscape design that works for your home.

You May Need Professional Help

Once you have a rough outline of what you want your landscape to look like, it's time to plan it out in detail. However, if coming up with a landscape design isn't something you feel able to do, hiring a professional may be your best bet. A landscape designer will help make your landscaping dreams a reality. What you pay for the services of a landscape designer depends on the project's scope. Some landscape designers charge a flat fee, while others will charge an hourly fee depending on the project. A landscape designer's hourly rates usually average from $50 to $150 per hour

It Can Be A Work In Progress

Another thing to consider about landscaping design is that it can be a work in progress. You don't have to completely overhaul your property's landscaping at one time. Taking your time and tackling a few projects every year is a great way to keep your landscape evolving. If you want to make a few changes, a landscape designer can help you determine which ones will offer the biggest bang for your buck.

If you want to update your property's landscaping, here's what to know about landscape design. First, before you make changes, it's helpful to know what you want and need from your landscaping. Second, hiring a landscape designer may be your best bet if you are struggling. Finally, landscaping design can be a work in progress, and you can make changes over time.

About Me

New Landscape Makes a Yard Feel New Again

Hi. My name is Martha. My husband Leo and I are empty nesters. The last of our three kids moved out of the home about eight years ago. Since that time, we have talked a great deal about retirement and what we wanted to do with our house. The house is slightly too large for just the two of us, but we already have two grandchildren and from the way our kids talk, we are in for plenty more. We have decided to stay in our home since it has plenty of room for our family to come and stay with us from time to time. The one thing we really wanted to change is the backyard. Leo retired last year, and I’ll be retiring in about six months. We are already talking with the landscape contractor, and I’m excited to share some of our plans with you!
